A court in the Sheriffdom of Tayside, Central and Fife
Stirling Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court serves a population of approximately 45,000 within the district of Stirling. The courthouse is located in the city centre and opened in 1875. In 2009 the Justice of the Peace Court was established in the same building.

Justice of the Peace (JP) Signings by appointment only. Please book an appointment in advance by phoning the Sheriff Clerk’s Office.
New, first instance custody cases will be heard in all eight Tayside, Central and Fife Sheriff and Justice of the Peace (JP) Courts:

Small estate interviews are not taking place within the court buildings at this time, please contact your local Sheriff Court for more information and guidance.
Viewfield Place is well served by public transport with many public amenities being located close by. Use the journey planner for public transportation information.
Stirling bus station is approximately a quarter of a mile from the courthouse off Goosecroft Road.
Stirling train station is about a quarter of a mile from the courthouse off Burghmuir Road. Visit ScotRail or National Rail Enquiries for train times.
There is no public car parking available at the courthouse. Parking is available at the Thistle Centre and near to the train station. Within 5 minutes walk from the courthouse there are a number of pay and display parking places on Queen Street and free on-street parking in Cowane Street.
There are taxi ranks situated at the train station and at the entrance to the Thistle Shopping Centre.
When you arrive at the courthouse please report to the reception desk. There are notice boards and a screen in the main foyer showing in which court a case is calling. There are 4 courtrooms. Courts 1 and 3 are located upstairs. Court 2 is on the ground floor and court 4 is on basement level.
If you are attending for jury duty please come to the main reception where you will be directed to the courtroom. If you are sitting on a jury, lunch and refreshments will be provided for you if the court sits into the afternoon.
Water is available. There are cafes and bakeries within easy reach of the court.
A loop induction service is available in all courtrooms. Please contact the office manager if you require using this facility.
A ramp provides alternative access for wheelchairs operated by a buzzer and monitor system.
