About the court

Paisley Sheriff Court has occupied the building in St James Street since 1885 and was extended in 1998 to house the Sheriffs, Scottish Court Service staff and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service staff. In 2011, the Justice of the Peace Court, relocated to the St James Street building.

Directions

St James Street is a short walk from Gilmour Street train station and the main bus station. Use the journey planner for public transportation information.

The main train station is Paisley Gilmour Street which is a short walk from the The Sheriff court. Trains run to and from Glasgow regularly. Visit scotrail or national rail for train times.

There is no public car park at the court. Travel by public transport is recommended. public car parking pay and display facilities are available in Glen Street and Glen Lane which are close to the court building.

Taxis are available at the train station.

On arrival

On arrival you should report to reception where you will be directed to the appropriate court, waiting room or office. A metal detector portal is located in the entrance of the building and you must pass through security before you enter the reception area.

Jurors on a jury

On arrival, jurors should report to the reception desk where you will be directed to the appropriate court or waiting room.

If you are sitting on a jury, lunch and refreshments will be provided for you if the court sits into the afternoon. Tea and coffee making facilities and chilled water are available in the jury rooms.

Facilities

There is tea bar run by a children's charity, Beanfeast, next to the main reception area. It is open each day until 13:00. Please note that you will not be able to bring any drinks or hot food into the building.

If you require assistance in accessing the building, please contact reception in advance of your visit 0141 887 5291.There is work in progress to provide unassisted access for wheelchair users at the main entrance.

Accessible hearing

A fixed loop induction service is available at all reception counters and portable mobile loop induction service are available for all courtrooms for people who have hearing difficulties. Please contact reception on 0141 887 5291, if possible, in advance of your attendance if you require to use this facility.
