About the court

This complex, located in the former Justice of the Peace Court is a specialist centre designed to hear civil and commercial cases.

Phone interpreter

A phone interpreter service is available when you contact a court by phone or attend in person. To access this service ask for phone interpreter and the language required.

The phone interpreter service is not available during actual court proceedings.

Paying a fine

Retrieval or borrowing of archived civil documents

  • Anyone wishing to borrow or consult any civil document archived in the main Sheriff and JP Court building (prior to 15 July 2014) will require to give a minimum of 24 hours written notice to the Civil Department in order to allow sufficient time for the document(s) to be retrieved.
  • Anyone wishing to borrow or consult any civil document archived off site will require to give a minimum of seven days written notice to the Civil Department in order to allow sufficient time for the document(s) to be retrieved.

The entrance to Aberdeen Civil Justice and Commercial Court is located in Queen Street beside Grampian Police Headquarters (behind the sheriff court). We encourage the use of public transport as part of its commitment to sustainable development. Please use the travel planner for public transportation information.

Buses stop on Union Street, King Street, Castle Street and at Aberdeen bus station on Guild Street beside the train station. Timetable information is available from FirstGroup or Traveline on 0870 6082608.

Aberdeen train station is located on Guild Street and is approximately a 10 minute walk away. Timetable information is available from ScotRail or National Rail Enquiries.

There is no public car park at any of the court buildings. Metered car parking, maximum stay 4 hours is available nearby. The nearest long-stay car park is the NCP at Shiprow, a 5 minutes walk.

The main taxi ranks are located at Hadden Street, Back Wynd, Dee Street and Chapel Street.

Aberdeen Airport is in the Dyce area of Aberdeen and is approximately a 45 minutes drive in rush-hour traffic from the courthouse.

Please contact the reception desk staff who will be able to direct you to the appropriate courtroom or waiting room.

Accessible hearing

A hearing loop system is available in all court rooms for those with hearing difficulties. Please speak to court staff if you require assistance.

Accessible access

There is an accessible court on the ground floor of the complex and there is planned further work to make the upper floor accessible. A disabled ramp accessible from Queen Street provides wheelchair access.
