About the court

Livingston Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court is part of the West Lothian Civic Centre. The Civic Centre opened in 2009 and houses not only the Courts, but also West Lothian Council, West Lothian Social Work Department and Livingston Police Station.

Livingston is well served by public transport from Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as the surrounding area. Use the journey planner for public transportation information.

Buses from outlying areas in West Lothian stop close to the civic centre. The main bus stance is located outside Livingston designer outlet which is approximately a 10 minute walk from the court, us timetables can be found on First Groups website. E&M Horsburgh also run buses in the local area around West Lothian, timetables can be found on their website.

There are two train stations in Livingston, Livingston North which is approximately 2 miles from the Court and Livingston South which is approximately 3 miles from the Court. Neither station has a designated taxi rank. Visit ScotRail or National Rail Enquiries for train times.

There is no long term public parking at the sheriff court. There are however various multi-storey car parks in Livingston town centre within walking distance of the sheriff court.

The nearest taxi rank is located at the rear of the Livingston designer outlet shopping mall, near the bus stance.

On arrival

The sheriff court is located on the first floor of the West Lothian civic centre. When you come in the main entrance straight ahead is the main reception desk and to the left of the reception desk are the stairs up to the sheriff clerk's office and the courts. There is also a lift available at the west of the building.

The reception desk is at the top of the stairs leading to the sheriff court which is manned from 09:30 to 10:15, you should report here and advise if you are attending for jury duty and you will be directed to the correct court. If there is nobody on the reception desk follow the signs to the sheriff clerk's office and report to the public counter where you will be directed to the correct court.

If you have been selected for jury duty you should attend at the sheriff court at time instructed to you either on the jury telephone line or by the clerk of court.

Facilities

There is a cafe located in the main foyer of the Civic Centre, serving a selection of sandwiches, soup, cakes, tea & coffee. The cafe is open from 08:30 until 14:00. There are also two vending machines which sell juice, crisps and a selection of snacks, also situated in the main foyer.

If you arecited for jury duty and selected to sit on a jury, lunch will be provided for each day the jury sits. This is served in the jury room. If you have any dietary requirements please bring this to the attention of the clerk of court so that alternative arrangements can be made.

A loop induction service is available in all courtrooms for people with hearing aids. Please contact the sheriff clerk's office prior to court starting if you require to use this facility.
