Payment options for paying a fine

Collecting penalties

The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service collects penalties imposed by courts or issued by the Crown and Procurator Fiscal Service, Police Scotland or other authorised enforcement agencies.

Please note: Endorsable fines can now be paid online, unless the penalty points imposed on the ticket bring the total number of active points on your licence to a number equal or greater than the statutory maximum.

Payment options

There are four ways to pay most penalties.

Police tickets

If your ticket has been issued within the last seven days, we may not yet have received the ticket details from the Police and you will be unable to pay online.

Please note: Endorsable fines can now be paid online, unless the penalty points imposed on the ticket bring the total number of active points on your licence to a number equal or greater than the statutory maximum.

For release of a vehicle which has been clamped you should telephone any Scottish court and pay the fine and charges in full using a debit or credit card.

Pay your fine online

If you have a debit or credit card you can call 0300 790 0003 any time to pay using our automated telephone payment system. Please have your fine documentation and card handy when you call.

Please note: Fixed penalties requiring endorsement of a driving record cannot be paid using the automated system. Please see the option to pay online or by post.

For release of a vehicle which has been clamped you should phone any Scottish court and pay the fine and charges in full using a debit or credit card.

You can pay at any Fines Office where payment can be made in cash, by cheque, postal order, debit or credit card.

You can pay your fine by sending a cheque or postal order made payable to ‘Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service’ to:

Please note: For fixed penalties requiring endorsement please send your payment along with a copy of your fixed penalty notice and ensure that you provide your name, address and driving licence number.
