Criminal record checks and disclosure FAQs

How can I get a check of my criminal record for a potential employer?

You can apply to Disclosure Scotland for a disclosure certificate. Disclosure Scotland is a service that provides potential employers and voluntary sector organisations with criminal history information on individuals applying for posts. Individuals may also apply for a basic disclosure.

Disclosure certificates give details of an individual's criminal convictions, or state that they have none. Enhanced disclosures, where appropriate, will also contain information held by police forces and other Government bodies.

More information can be found on Disclosure Scotland website.
