About Judgments

Opinions, or judgments, are decisions made by judges in court cases. Most court decisions are given verbally by judges in court.

Written decisions will usually be provided following a case when it involves:

  • a matter of principle
  • a particular point of general public importance
  • a case where substantial evidence was heard.

Written decisions are published on the website, unless judges rule that there are exceptional circumstances in the interest of justice for a particular case not to be published.
