Guidance on setting up RSS feeds to receive notifications for Judgments, Fatal Accident Inquiry Hearings and Determinations, News articles, Publications, Practice Notes and Directions

What is an RSS feed?

An RSS feed allows you to view the latest content from the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service website as soon as it is published.

The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service currently publishes RSS feeds for the following indices:

Choose an RSS reader

To use RSS you need an RSS reader. Readers can be downloaded for free and can be web-based, desktop-based or mobile-based. There are many options available including Feedly or Feeder.

Setting up your notifications

  1. Open your RSS reader, and select to add a new feed.
  2. You should be prompted for a feed URL, this is: https://api.pa.web.scotcourts.gov.uk/web/rss/{indexType}
  3. Replace the {indexType} part of the URL with the index you want to subscribe to:
    • Judgments
    • FatalAccidentInquiryHearings
    • FatalAccidentInquiryDeterminations
    • NewsArticles
    • Publications
    • PracticeNotesAndDirections

For example, the Judgments index: https://api.pa.web.scotcourts.gov.uk/web/rss/Judgments

For indices where we have filter dropdowns we can filter by, you can add an extra parameter to the end of the URL in the format {field}={value}.

For example, if you only want to see Judgments which are for the Court of Session, you could create the following RSS feed URL:

For example, the Judgments index filtered by Court of Session:
https://api.pa.web.scotcourts.gov.uk/web/rss/Judgments/?Court=Court+of+Session

Example fields for indices

Below is a non-exhaustive list of values for the fields available on the following indices on this website.
