Conference on The Treatment of Vulnerable Witnesses

The Lord President, Lord Carloway, Lord Justice Clerk, Lady Dorrian and Tim Barraclough, Chief Development and Innovation Officer, Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service, will speak at the prestigious Faculty of Advocates Conference on The Treatment of Vulnerable Witnesses in Scotland. 

The event, over two days, starts on 17th June and takes place in Parliament Hall, Edinburgh.  Other speakers include the former Lord Chief Justice of England, Lord Igor Judge, Dame Joyce Plotnikoff and Dr Richard Woolfson,and the Dean of Faculty and nominee for Lord Advocate, James Wolffe QC.   

The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service published a report earlier this year -  Evidence and Procedure Report - Next Steps which recommends both a new approach to ensure children and vulnerable witnesses are protected from further trauma while giving evidence, as well as  radical digital transformation of the summary criminal justice system.
